THE MANY POSSIBLE COMBINATIONS of material influence my inspiration. The exact process comes to me only after I’ve begun to work with the material.

 

I’m interested in the raw material of sculpture, the material that it is made from: The lived body, the result of discovery and small interactions. It’s from those interactions that we have all our sensorial relations with the world. All our meanings and metaphors, come from that basis.

 

More specifically, this series began with an interest in rusted disks from old farm equipment and the ancient process of gilding with metallic foil. I had no preconceived ideas about what the connection between those objects and process might be, but among others, they might suggest hovering spaceships, historical artifacts or a surreal process of creation.
